Close finish in Metro League Final

It was a nail biting finish to the final of the Metro League at the Coastlands Aquatic Centre on 21 June.

The Capital Bees team finished second in the A Final, just three points behind winners PCA, with the Capital Aces team coming home in a credible sixth place.

“There can only be one winner in the end and congratulations to PCA, who were better equipped than us on the night,” says Aces coach Cliff Threadgold.

“The competition is about swimming fast and winning races and they won more points than us.

“Our goal was to get two teams in the A final; we managed to do that and had 70 swimmers gaining experience and racing for the club. That’s impressive and shows me we’re on the right track moving forward.

“The Aces didn’t just go along to make up the numbers. They raced as hard as they could and challenged for places - pushing the Bees swimmers in many races.

“The past nine months have been exciting and challenging for me, but when I see how much improvement the swimmers have made and the depth we now have developing it certainly excites me for the future of our team, CAPITAL.

“Also exciting, was to see seven of our A squad swimmers sharing their Saturday evening to help and support the Club – a great team effort,” says Cliff.
