Capital Club junior swimmers get a helping hand from current, past, and potential Olympians.

Capital Swim Club swimmers Sophie Irving and Tamrah Titcombe recently got the opportunity to hold real gold Olympic medals. They also got a weekend of first-hand pool and open sea swimming tips from current Olympian and fellow Capital Club member Emma Robinson and double gold Olympic legend Danyon Loader (who used to coach at Capital).

They were all attending the recent 3-day Ocean Swim Series Jetstar Training camp three day event held in Auckland on Anzac Weekend along with 34 other young swimmers aged 10-13 years. All of the swimmers won their places by entering and winning the 200m Ocean Swim Series competition held in different parts of NZ. The other coaches included Dean Kent (3 time Olympic swimmer) Nathan Capp (current national 1500m freestyle holder), and open water specialists Charlotte Webbey and Michael Schiels from Australia.

For Tamrah it was her fourth camp and for Sophie it was her first. Both swimmers learnt lots, made new friends, and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
