Success for junior swimmers at Capital Classic

Along with our elite contestants, Capital’s younger swimmers posted some impressive results in the State Capital Classic in Oriental Bay on 26 January.

In the “State Ocean Kids” event Tamrah Titcombe won the 200 metre swim for nine-year-old girls. Tamrah won the under nine girls’ division last year.

Tamrah and fellow Capital swimmer Sam Brown’s efforts earned them the prize of attending a two day training camp in Auckland, along with 28 other swimmers between the ages of eight and ten from all over New Zealand. View TV One's coverage of this camp on 26 April (forward to 9:35)

In the 300 metre “Give it a go” event Che Pulepule came third in the male under 15 division and Sophie Irving took out third place in the female under 15 division.

As the table below shows Capital swimmers placed well in the top 10-20 in their age groups.
